Integrating the Oaklander Model Gestalt Play Therapy Across the 8 Phases of EMDR Therapy
This self paced course explores how the Oaklander Model of Gestalt Play Therapy can be thoughtfully integrated with EMDR therapy when working with children. The course focuses on core Oaklander principles that guide play therapy practice, including emotional contact, self support, and developmental attunement.
Participants will examine how expressive and projective play therapy interventions such as art, sandtray, and puppets support child self expression and emotional engagement. The course demonstrates how Oaklander informed play therapy strategies can be integrated across all eight phases of EMDR therapy while maintaining appropriate pacing and fidelity to both models.
The course also introduces selected online play therapy tools and reviews ethical considerations for using these tools in telehealth and in person play therapy sessions. Clinical demonstrations and practical examples are used throughout to support application in real world practice.
